Unique Sightings
06.13.2011
Thank you to all the interested volunteers, a team of Prairie Lands Parks Trail Stewards have joined the effort to keep trails safe and pleasant for the public. Their commitment is much appreciated.
Others interested in volunteering talents, time and efforts are encouraged to contact the Steward of the Woods at www.fugatewoods.org.
A Sunday hike down the Bluestem Trail offered an exciting view of a pair of eagles soaring on the thermals....a unique and rare sighting.
As well, a great horned owl offered a mid-afternoon talk to the symphony of locusts and frogs throughout the timbered areas. The trails are pocked with holes from the locusts' emergence after their long underground slumber. And, the real treat this week, a nice showing of White Beardtongue interspersed with the habitat restoration area of Fugate Woods...a first sighting as well.
Always something new to discover...on the trails.
